We had a conversation not too
long ago about every gig we’ve played
together and how we could remember something
significant about each show. Halifax was no
exception. Mumbles joined along to make some
sounds with his bare hands, Jamie hopped on
board to party and sell merch, and Gerald was
there for laughs as always. We pulled into town
after the sun had gone down. What a gorgeous
looking city at night. After hanging out with
the boys from Madame Brown for a bit, we finished
up a doozy of a sound check. After that Gerald
showed up, got us laughing and we hit the stage.
We had heard great things about The Seahorse
and it definitely lived up to its expectations.
At the end of our set, we hit the bar and started
making some friends. Some even joined us for
a sexy party at our pal Brock’s house
after we left the bar. Thanks for letting us
crash at your place Brock! The next day we took
off for a night in Shediac where we met up with
Diamond, Gladney, Chelsea, and Emily. Thanks
for letting us crash at your place Diamond!
It was our first bonfire of the year and Gerald
did not disappoint. For the most part we stayed
pretty tame until the 151 was cracked. Jamie
tripped over a lawn mower conveniently placed
on the kitchen floor. It was just about time
to go to bed, but there was a huge turtle sighting.
Then a few people, who will remain nameless,
got naked and jumped in the ocean around 1:00
am. The next morning we set our sails northwest,
listening to the Beastie Boys and Simon and
Garfunkel the entire way. Thanks to everyone
who came out to The Seahorse on Friday. Hopefully
we’ll see your lovely faces again sometime
soon!
Much
Love,
Andy

Bash
Last Class
Last
Class Bash, the closing of one door and the
opening of another. The day begins for me with
a morning sun so high that only good things
could have been anticipated. Early afternoon
began when Poody and I decided that we would
go and thank the weather for being here by enjoying
some sun. With great people, music and beers
you could notice a sense of freedom amounting
in the passerby’s who were supporting
their summer attire. There was no better place
I could be at this time. I’ve always admired
how the spring season sparks a rebirth in youth
and grows with the beauty of summer for those
to enjoy it. Needless to say it was a very exciting
time in Fredericton.
To
be able to play a show on this wonderful day
was definitely a blessing of some kind. It became
time to leave the station and head down to Freddy’s
music showroom, the Capital. I love getting
the chance to play here because it always reminds
me of the seeds that I received there which
enabled me to grow. It was at the complex that
reality showed me the beauty of people who love
music. It is a place for anyone to showcase
their music to people who love it. It allows
for complete freedom of creativity and this
energy only reflects in the music people play
here when they are allowed to do this. Five
cigarettes and two beers later, sound check
was finished.
I
was getting pretty excited to see our great
friends from the old homestead on P.E.I. Fugato
came prepared with their newly amped up live
show which they derived from their times being
spend in Charlottetown. Their music poured out
soul and shook the brick walls until it resonated
through the two ears of everyone in the room.
People’s feet were getting warm and slightly
holding back some of their excitement. It seems
as though we must wait until late night to fully
release our inhibitions. But nonetheless they
shall be released. It was a very warm welcome
to get on stage and see the joy on peoples faces,
all because this day marked freedom. Thank you
so much for all the good vibes you have given
us. I don’t think I could have started
playing music in a better place.
To
close this day I would like to congratulate
all of those who have finished their university
degree and are moving on to bigger, better things.
I hope that we were able to bring you some kind
of satisfaction over your years here, and I
hope that we continue our friendship for years
to come over all parts of the world. Peace,
love, and happiness.

Chili,
Dogs & Hospitality
Another
milestone. If we had compiled a list of goals
when Weak Size Fish was formed, opening for
Slowcoaster would have almost certainly been
on that list. We’ve accomplished this
on my 40th show. Here’s how it all went
down.
We
were originally expecting to only play a single
show this weekend in Fredericton, but we were
lucky enough to be invited to play a Friday
night show in Saint John as well. Not having
the best luck with shows in SJ to date, we were
looking forward to rocking out a little extra
to make up for those times. So we loaded up
my wonderful white van and set sail. We arrived
at the Thomson residence and were met with exceptional
hospitality. After several bowls of chili and
about 20 minutes of me playing with the Thomson’s
dog, we headed to the show. Very excited but
a little nervous. (40 shows still nervous? every
once in a while.)
Found
the Blue Olive, a nice bar/restaurant that is
becoming a wonderful place to see music. Great
stage, sound, dance floor and staff. The owner
really made us feel appreciated. A few drinks
later, we’re ready to go. It only took
us about 2 songs to get the brave first people
to move their feet on the dance floor. Great
response from the friendly crowd all night,
a couple of cd’s sold and a few new fans.
Some fans were so friendly we were left to question
their sanity. Met up with our friends The Ideal
Gas Law, who are always a blast. Finished the
night watching the best slowco show we’d
seen in years. SJ has made up for misfortunes
of previous shows.
We
wake up to the smell of bacon sizzling. Mr and
Mrs Munn attempt to out do the Thomson family
hospitality. I was even provided a dog to play
with. Then it was back to Freddy to do it all
again.
Mother
nature knew it was a Weak Size Fish day and
helped us out with the nicest weather imaginable.
Livin is easy with hot sun, a lawn chair and
a beer. We were joined by Mr. AC and Mumble
to help us play a hot, sweaty, rocking show
to rival our CD release. It felt good to get
an attaboy from the guys in slowco.
I
woke up this afternoon with a head-ache, turned
on the radio and guess what I heard, By Your
Side was playing. It was a great/surreal feeling
to hear our song on the radio even if it was
just our buddy Mumble picking the songs.
Thanks
to slowcoaster, dave rabb, blue olive, cellar,
AC, mumble, sunshine, everyone who came to see
us and even those who didn’t.
Love,
Steve

House,
Season Three, Episode Five
This
beautiful sunny Friday the 13th was the day
we’d been awaiting for months –
the CD release show at le Cellar. What an exciting
day! After checking our sound, we knew by the
already bustling crowd, that good times were
to come. The boys from Ideal Gas Law played
an exceptional set, and the crowd was giving
off incredibly great vibes. Though my eyes were
closed the whole time, I knew there was a lot
of grooving going on, and that Mike Humble played
his heart out on percussion. After the show,
it was nice to mingle/party with some friends
at home and have some home brew.
Awoken
at noon the next day, it was time to get cozy
with our pretty-eyed boy Bryan in the white
wizard of a van and head to the island to do
it again. It was awesome to be in Charlottetown
again to see some of them nice folk, and have
a nice change of scenery playing at Baba’s
for such a rocking crowd. I was amazed by Fugato’s
revamped, groovy, in-your-face sound not to
mention the Sweet O and House the sound guy.
We’d like to extend our thanks to our
Charlottetown friends for allowing us to have
such a cuddly sleep in their living room. A
fun-filled drive back to Freddy included a stop
for rock throwing at le Petit Cap, 8 deer, and
a bald eagle.
Can’t
wait ‘til Friday and head to SJ!
See
you soon

Sack-Attack
If
a large group of sweaty people had sex appeal,
it would be our friends from Mount Allison.
This was our first show to promote the new album
and we can honestly say it won’t be forgotten.
Thanks to everyone who came out, you’re
all really beautiful!
So, where do I begin? We took off from Fredericton
with an entourage so we had to take a few vehicles
and brave the terrible weather (pathetic fallacy?).
Fortunately I was put in a car with the best
looking studs in town. We hit the highway and
things were smooth sailing, however, about 20
minutes in, the car blew a tire. Luckily, we
had some mechanics with us and we were back
on the road in no time. What’s even better
is that by some divine miracle the rain let
up for the 10 minutes that we needed to replace
the tire.
After a nice slow drive to Sackville we unpacked
our gear, did a quick sound check, and stared
into the faces of the most groovy people east
of Montreal. We were playing all night, so we
figured we would take a little break and play
two sets. We opened up the second set with a
new tune called ‘Take Me Home’ and
that’s when things got a little rough.
We had some technical difficulties, tried to
fight through it for a couple songs, but in
the end we had to call it quits early and pack
up for the night. To everyone who was upset
about this, we’re sorry. We’ll be
back soon and I promise we’ll be groove-worthy
so all of you can be your hip selves. Wadata!

Spanking
Brand New Discs on the Behind
Yes!
That's right! Our CDs came in the mail yesterday!
It was a very exciting day, one that's very
similar to the feeling of Christmas day (as
a child of course)! The Purolator truck showed
up while I was in the process of making some
soup and I left my soup unattended for a brief
period. The soup still filled my belly, but
was not cooked to it's full potential.
Soup
aside, the CDs look gorgeous and we had a bit
of a celebration, even though it was a Monday
(last Monday of the week)! Time to get it out
there! Here's a video of the events that happened
the day/night of the arrival of our CDs.
